Iguazu Falls with Itaipu Dam
Day by Day
DAY 1 – in Iguazu Falls
Our tour to Iguazu begins departing from Buenos Aires. Once you arrive at the Puerto Iguazú airport you will be welcomed by our bilingual tour guide who after explaining you in detail the activities you will be taking will drive you to your hotel. The rest of the day will be free for you to relax and explore the town of Puerto Iguazu on your own.
DAY 2 – in Iguazu Falls
After breakfast, we will pick you up at the lobby of your hotel and you will leave for a full day excursion to the Argentine side of Iguazu Falls. Upon arriving at the Iguazú National Park, you will take part of the excursion by the jungle train, that goes through wonders of the park, allowing visitors to walk and access different footbridges. You will be guided around several paths inside the National Park to witness the incredible view of more than 200 falls, visiting the green way, the upper and lower trails where you will enjoy a panoramic view of the falls as well as the delta of the Iguazú River, with its islands and lush vegetation and the Devil’s Throat path that is the farthest situated but the most impressive fall. At the end of the tour we will drop you off in the lobby of your hotel in Puerto Iguazú.
DAY 3 – in Iguazu Falls
After having your breakfast we will pick you up in your hotel again to combine two great sightseeing excursions on this cross-border day trip from Puerto Iguazu to the Brazilian side of Iguazu Falls and the Itaipu Dam. First, you will start the day enjoying a guided sightseeing tour of Iguazu National Park along the Brazilian walkway, which starts in front of Hotel das Cataratas and goes to Salto Floriano the heart of the sub-tropical jungle.
You will visit Devil’s Throat, the largest waterfall in the region and one best seen from the Brazilian side of Iguazu Falls. Here, you’ll watch as 14 falls drop 350 feet (107 meters) with such force that a 100-foot (30-meter) tall cloud of mist stays permanently suspended overhead. This area is famous for its rainbow, and great photo opportunities abound! The panoramic view is unbeatable since the walkway circuit is directly in front of the waterfalls.
Then, we will head over to Itaipu Dam and we will explore the largest operational hydroelectric power plant in the world. The dam wall of the power station is a whopping 200m high and when you go inside you stand on a platform near the top with a massive 140m drop at your feet. It generates a power of 12,600 megawatts, approximately 25% of the electricity consumed by Brazil and 95% of the energy consumed by Paraguay. This is a stunning piece of modern architecture and will allow you to learn about its construction, its environment impact and its importance to the people of Brazil and Paraguay. The sheer size of the Itaipu Dam will leave you speechless for sure! At the end of the tour we will drop you off at your hotel.
